Karen Castorani, SHRM-CP
Karen Castorani, SHRM-CP has spent more than 20 years working in Human Resources in the tech industry, with a consistent focus on people, trust, and doing the right thing. She brings hands-on experience in HR compliance and HITRUST audits and is known for her steady, practical approach to navigating complex workplace situations.
Karen began her career out of high school as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)—an experience that continues to influence how she approaches Human Resources today. Her healthcare background shaped a people-first mindset rooted in care, confidentiality, and accountability, which she carries into her HR work by balancing empathy with clear, informed decision-making.
She grew up in the farm hills of Pennsylvania on the East Coast, where hard work, honesty, and helping others were simply part of everyday life. Utah has since become a second home, offering space to explore and a pace that reflects her appreciation for balance.
Karen is especially passionate about supporting veterans as they transition into the civilian workforce, helping them translate their experience, find purpose, and feel supported in unfamiliar environments. She is also a strong advocate for mental health awareness in the workplace, believing that open conversation, compassion, and access to support are essential to both individual well-being and organizational success.
At the core of Karen’s work is a belief that strong organizations are built much like good care—through trust, empathy, and consistency. She is dedicated to creating workplaces where employees feel heard and supported, and where employers feel confident that people-focused decisions and compliance can coexist.
“Whether in healthcare or HR, it all comes down to people—listening with empathy, acting with integrity, and building trust through transparency.”
Outside of work, Karen enjoys off-roading, spending time with family, unwinding at home with her three cats and cheering on the Pirates!
